Biomechanical Assessment & Gait Analysis
Many muscular and skeletal issues stem from the way in which you walk or stand.
Careful evaluation of our standing posture and our gait can provide us and you with vital information necessary to make a positive and long term result.
A Biomechanical Assessment involves a thourough evaluation of the feet, legs and body position, both whilst standing, walking and running if necessary. It examines the function and alignment of the feet and associated joints, assesses where the points of balance are maintained and where pressure is being exerted, in order to track down any imbalances. During assessment the therapist will look carefully at the way your body moves to establish if the joints and the muscles are working efficiently.
A biomechanical assessment can potentially provide clues to the root of any long-term issues – and is often beneficial if the cause of pain has previously been difficult to establish. From a biomechanical investigation, with an analysis of the patient’s gait, we can identify any abnormalities that currently cause or will lead to injuries.
The analysis of the patient’s gait is conducted using a Footwork ProAm pressure plate – an advanced piece of equipment which examines the patient’s static and moving posture via over 4000 sensors.
This plate is one of the most advanced in the industry and therefore highly accurate. The subsequent data is then analysed by one of our skilled and experienced practitioners to provide a complete picture of the patient’s movement pattern.
Cost of biomechanical assessment with computerised gait analysis is £45

Over 78 swimmers entered the Topsham Ferryman’s Swim recently to raise much needed funds in conjunction with the Estuary League of Friends, to help buy a wheel chair accessible vehicle for use in our local community.
Amongst the swimmers completing the mile and a half course, was our own Dr Dave Evans, who raised over £150 through the kind sponsorship of the clinics staff and clients.
Altogether the event, which gains in popularity every year, raised over £5000
